　　As is shown in the picture above, two tourists are sitting on a sightseeing boat, throwing rubbish into the river casually, which has already been littered with a great deal of waste. Regrettably, such a scenic spot is ruined by the tourists’ behavior.

　　The purpose of the picture is to remind us that many tourist resorts are facing great challenge due to people’s lack of awareness of environment protection. It’s not difficult to find in many tourist attractions now that when enjoying the scenery, a considerable number of tourists forget the importance of environment protection and spoil the beauty of scenic spot by their casualness and misdeeds. Undoubtedly, such behavior, like what the two tourists do in the picture, will cause serious consequences. In the first place, there is no doubt that lack of environment protection awareness will destroy the ecosystem of tourist resorts, with the result that our descendants may be deprived of the opportunities of enjoying the pleasure of travelling and be left with a legacy of pollution. In the second place, the environment protection awareness is a mirror of a nation’s degree of civilization, and people’s deed is a reflection of a nation’s level of morality. So, a climate of immorality will be established if we let the worrying situation go unchallenged.

　　In my opinion, we should get moving to stop the disturbing trend and raise people’s standard of morality. However, to retrieve the worrisome situation entails our government’s legal measures against the misdeeds, our media’s publicity of the concept of environment protection and everyone’s endeavor. Accordingly, we should bear in mind that only when everyone establish the notion environment protection can we make the tourist resorts more beautiful.

　　In the future ,students may have the choice ofstudying at home by using technology such ascomputers or television or of studying attraditional schools . Which would you prefer?Use reasons and specific details to explain yourchoice.

　　If I have a choice between studying at home using computers and television or studying in atraditional school setting, I’d choose the traditional setting . Maybe it’s just what I’m usedto ,but I don’t think that technology can replace teachers and classrooms.

　　After all, technology can fail. Computers go down and computer programs crash. Televisionsbreak, and the electricity can suddenly go off. In those situations, who's going to teach me? IfI'm at school, and the television or the computers stop functioning, there's a teacher to step inand change the lesson plan. Teachers can draw on their teaching experience and be creative.Computers and televisions can't.

　　I'd also miss the chance to interact with other students if I weren't going to school. I thinklearning to play and work with other people is one of the most important lessons we learn inschool. It prepares us for life, and for working with other people. Being with other people alsohelps us discover who we are.

　　Another concern I have about studying at home is getting distracted. It's strange, but I thinkbeing home alone is more distracting than being at school with a lot of people. At school, we'reall focused on the same subjects. At home, it would be so easy to turn off the computer or thetelevision and go do something else. I might tell myself that it's okay to play a computer gamenow and make up the study hours later. Chances are, I'd never make up the study hours.

　　I'm all in favor of using technology in the classroom. I think computers and television are greatways for students to have access to a lot of information. I just don't think they should be theonly tools I have as a student. I also need teachers and other students to help me get acomplete education.

　　Some people believe that success in life comes from taking risk or chance. Others believe that success results from careful planning. In your opinion, what does success come from? Use specific reasons and examples to support youranswer.

　　Nothing ventured. Nothing gained. If our greatexplorers and scientists did not live by this creed,where would we be? I think that we must all take risks in our lives, but these must becalculated risks. Like the great thinkers of our time, we must plan carefully, seize allopportunities, and reevaluate our plans.

　　There is no such thing as a chance occurrence. Columbus in his search for the Indies drewmaps, plotted his route carefully, and set out. Madam Curie worked diligently in her laboratoryrecording every aspect of her experiments. You need to have a careful plan so you canmeasure your success.

　　Even with a careful plan, changes occur. Columbus was looking for the Indies, but ended upin the Caribbean. Lewis and Clark were looking for a river passage west, but discovered muchmore. You have to be ready to take advantage of new things as they occur.

　　When things go against plan, you must be ready to change direction. Columbus didn't bringback spices from the East Indies, he brought back gold from the West Indies. It is important tosee the positive side of things. Make your mistakes work for you.

　　You will never succeed in life if you don't take chance. But before you start, you must plancarefully so you are ready to take advantage of every opportunity and turn mistakes to youradvantage.
