There are lots of dangerous and terrible insects in Northeastern India, but the tree-bees are the most terrible .They are killers .Unlike most bees which will sting(叮咬) only if they are disturbed, tree-bees will attack you in thousands for no reason. And they will chase you for your life.

Walking along on a dusty road while I was on holiday there last year. I found myself , without the least warning ,the centre of such an attack. The air above me suddenly became thick with bees. Though it was hot, I went cold all over. Until then I have never heard of Indian tree-bees, but had recently seen a film called The Angry Swarm《疯狂的马蜂》,which was about killer-bees.

I began running to the village about half miles away, but I was soon covered from head to foot with bees, I drove them away with my hands, only to make room for others. Each time I open my mouth for breath, more bees entered my mouth, until it was stung to twice its usual size and I could hardly breathe.

When I reached the village, I found some workers building a house. I ran towards them for help. But as soon as the workers saw the bees with me, they ran for safety at top speed.

Soon my eyes had completely closed. I fell into a pile of brick dust. I pushed myself wildly down into it until my head and shoulders were covered. And then I tried hard to get out of the dust, the angry bees made a new attack on me. I was tired out and ran weakly about in circles. Soon I lost my consciousness (意识).

Later I learned that two quick-minded villagers ran to a pile of dry grass and quickly surrounded (包围) me with a thick wall of fire and smoke until the bees were driven away. They stayed with me, taking stings out of my body for the next three hours until a doctor came and gave me further treatment.

Mike Myers is a teacher at Chauncey Rose High School in Terre Haute, Indiana. Last year, he taught his students about the world’s rain forests. They learned that rain forests are important because the plants and animals of the rain forest give us food, wood, and medicine.

Destruction of the world’s rain forests is a serious problem. Unluckily, rain forests are disappearing at a rate of 80 acres per minute! As part of a class project, Myers’ students bought three acres of rain forest in Central America. They paid $25 per acre. The students hope that the land they bought will be protected and not destroyed. The students became so interested in rain forests that they decided to get a closer look at a real rain forest.

So last June, Myers and four of his students took a boat ride down a river . They saw alligators and crocodiles. In the middle of the week, a guide took Myers and his students into the rain forest. “The monkeys were not happy that we were in their forest. They broke small branches off the trees and threw them at us,” one of the students said, “It was a great learning experience for all of us,”said Myers.

Each student chose something specific about Costa Rica to study involving the plants, animals, food, and culture. During the last few days the group had time to do fun activities. They went whitewater rafting and horseback riding, and visited Costa Rica’s active volcano.

  KINGS HOTEL-CUSTOMER COMMENTS

I cannot say enough good things about the Kings Hotel. Till rooms were large, clean and comfortable and the hotel workers were excellent. They were even able to book several sightseeing trips to different

A couple of years ago, before a trip to China, Nicole Davis and her US women’s volleyball teammates were warned about the prominence (显著、突出) of coach “Jenny” Lang Ping in her native country.

“I was pushed over by Chinese journalists while I was just trying to put my luggage on the bus,” said Davis.

Known as the “Iron Hammer” for her punishing spikes(扣球), Lang made it possible for China to dominate in the sport in the early 1980s. She was a key player on China’s 1984 Olympic gold medal winning team.

When the US team arrived for the Olympics, Lang, 48, who is from Beijing, had to take a different route to avoid a crowd of reporters and fans.

Then came the greatest moment to Lang:While the US team was playing in a packed gym, at least 8,000 Chinese fans unfurled an American flag.

“That really says it all,” Davis said. “They look at her as an icon(偶像).

I’m sure it’s hard for them to see her coaching another country, but they love her so dearly that her success is their success.”

The loyalty of the Chinese fans was tested on Friday, when China lost a match to the US.

“It’s a pity that China lost the match, but I’m still glad that Lang Ping’s team won, since she is the pride of China’s volleyball,” said Liu Chengli, a spectator. “We also cheered for Lang’s victory.”

Lang said she just tried to stay professional when the two teams meet. “It doesn’t matter if we play China or any other team. It’s the same.” Lang said.

Davis said she and her teammates could not have imagined the passion for volleyball among Chinese because the sport was lack of popularity in the US. The reception from Chinese fans has touched the US players, said US volleyball player Lindsey Berg.

  Encourage excercises

It’s no secret that many students do not like to say in classrooms and study all day. 46 : Quite a lot of them don’t like outdoor PE classes either.

“Our three PE classes every week are all run, run and run. It’s for our High School Entrance Examination (中考),said Li Liangjing, 15 , a junior 3 student from Xiamen.
